I find that , if I post more than one entry on the same day , people read only the latest , so I’ve decided to string three together :-
1 ) Did anyone see the extraordinary interview yesterday on television with CNN’s medical consultant , Dr. Sanjay Gupta and two scientific specialists in longevity – one a giant English gnome with a beard down to his waist and the other , a relatively sane-looking American . Both claimed that very soon an average human lifespan of 500 years will be the norm before finally attaining immortality !!! They also stated that a vegetarian diet and meditation were highly recommendable .

Dr. Gupta himself had pointed out in an earlier programme that the lack of Alzheimer’s disease - serious loss loss of memory , often in old age - in Hindu communities could be attributable to the prevalence of turmeric in Hindu vegetarian diet. As chance would have it , I had just cooked several Thalis (vegetarian curries) so you can call me “Methuselah” . With the population explosion we shall soon have have to find an Earth-like planet , but it would take thousands of light-years to reach it !
2) I ventured into the city centre – brrrrrrrrrrr !!! Winter has caught up with us down here with a vengeance ! I went into one of our El Cortes Inglés department stores to buy a blanket . The whole year round they have a huge floorful of many different brands . However , after extensive searching , I couldn’t find the extremely warm , soft , fluffy – and vegan one – which I was looking for . None of the extremely helpful salesgirls could find it either , even though they brought many catalogues . Finally , by pure chance , I spotted it . I have over a hundred , of many different makes – mohair , merino , wool , etc .- I’m now looking for cashmere , which I’ve only noticed in Valencia at the Exposición Internacional de Textiles . Blankets are not only warm but also sooo sensuous !!!
3) The only value of Christmas cards seems to me to be an exchange of news with off-line , snail-mail friends . They started arriving with no information whatever ! Grrrrrr !
Nobody sends me Divali cards .
PS I've air-conditioners in the huge lounge and 3 of the 4 bedrooms . Can they be set to blow out warm air ? If I move out of my blankets I FREEZE ! I've never known it so ª!"·$%&/()=?¿ cold !!!
